Iowa's Hillandale farms recalled 170 million eggs in the month of august. Because they found that the eggs were tainted with salmonella. 1,000 people have been reported sick because of the eggs, and that number is expected to grow. The eggs were distributed in states such as Arkansas, California,
Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas, and Wisconsin. It is said that the hens got the salmonella from rat droppings in their pen. And Hillandale Farms has been written up for health code violations in the past. This is a perfect example of corporate irresponsibility because the company was made aware that their Farm was not following the health code. Instead of being pro-active they ignored the warnings and now there are 1,000+ people sick with the salmonella virus and 170 million eggs are recalled.
